Discover Sigiriya, one of Sri Lanka’s most remarkable historical treasures and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rising dramatically above the surrounding forests, the iconic Lion Rock was once the site of an ancient royal citadel. The destination combines fascinating history, extraordinary architecture, ancient frescoes, landscaped gardens, and spectacular views across Sri Lanka’s cultural heartland.

How to Reach Sigiriya

From Colombo: Approximately 4–5 hours by road.
From Kandy: Approximately 2.5–3.5 hours by road.
From Dambulla: Approximately 30 minutes by road.

For international travellers, the usual gateway is Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) near Colombo, followed by a private transfer or tour vehicle to Sigiriya.

Best Time to Visit

The best period is generally December to April, when the Cultural Triangle tends to have relatively favourable conditions for sightseeing.
